Maynard Peets

Mr. Maynard E. Peets, age 86, of Grant, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007. He married Edna Elease Brydges on November 16, 1940 in Grant and she preceded him in death on June 21, 1986. He then married Maxine H. Carter Portell on February 7, 1987 in Frost Proof, Florida. He is survived by his wife, Maxine Peets; his children, Mary Ann and Bill Ransom of Branch, Janet and Jack Smith of White Cloud, Greg and Carol Peets of Newaygo; his stepchildren, Richard and Diane Portell, Harold and Lisa Portell all of Grant, Charles and Mary Portell of Kent City; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren; and his brother, James Peets of Grant. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. from the Grant United Church of Christ, on Friday, November 23, 2007 with Pastor Mike Coalter officiating. Interment will be in the Ashland Center Cemetery near Grant. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday prior to the service.
