Kindle, Maxine B. Portage Age 99, died peacefully Wednesday evening, January 25, 2023. Maxine was born in 1923 in Muskegon, Mi., on her mother's birthday, February 19. She was the daughter of A. DeVere and Ruth H. (Egner) Johnson. Maxine graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School and in 1943 married her high school sweetheart, Harry E. Kindle while he was on a weeklong furlough from the Army. She enjoyed spending her time playing golf, relaxing on the beach of Lake Michigan in Pentwater, reading, doing cross stitch, listening to music and socializing with family and friends. Maxine will always be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, loving Mother and friend. As well as her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her loving husband, Harry Kindle (1986), a son, Donavan Kindle (2013) and two infant grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Devera (Frank) Grashuis of Brunswick, Georgia and Jim (Mary) Kindle of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. A private family memorial gathering is being planned for this summer. The Kindles would like to thank Rachel, Theo and the entire Mol family, as well as Tasha Green at Bethesda Ranch for the wonderful care they provided our Mom the last four years. Memorial contributions may be made to the Pentwater Chamber of Commerce for the 4th of July and Homecoming Fireworks displays, or to a charity of donors' choice, in c/o the funeral home. Friends may leave a condolence message for the family at www.joldersma-klein.com.
