Maurice Cole

Maurice Lyle Cole, 86, passed away peacefully in his home on August 10, 2017 surrounded by his family.

Maurice lived on Portage Lake at Kline’s Resort with his loving wife, Bonnie Cole since 1994. Maurice’s first love was always his precious family. He enjoyed fishing and boating on the pontoon with Bonnie. He was also an accomplished painter. Starting out with small paint by number pictures and eventually doing paintings for all his friends and family that looked more like a Picasso than a paint by number!

Maurice’s faith in God was also strong and he enjoyed fellowship with his church family at the West Mendon United Methodist Church.

Maurice was born to Floyd and Ethel Cole on November 21, 1930 in Kalamazoo Michigan. He was married to Bonnie Lou Lakaff on March 4, 1967 in Portage Michigan.

Maurice is survived by his children, John (Sheila) Cole, Robert (Joan) Cole, Steve (Elizabeth) Cole, Alan (Shelly) Cole and son-in-law Dennis McGahan;

Grandchildren: Staci (Jeffery) Jakubal, Kendelle (Vinny) Nelson, Brittnae (Philip) Bolz, Steven and Isabella Cole, Jonny and David Cole, Jenny (David) Stewart and Travis McGahan. Added in his love are his great grandchildren, Andrew Jakubal; Bo and Ellie Nelson; Zachary, Nicholas and Gabriel Stewart; Gavin, Hannah, Natalie and Amaya McGahan.

Maurice was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie Cole, daughter Christine McGahan, and grandson Michael McGahan.

In keeping with his wishes, cremation has been conducted.

The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. with funeral service at 11 a.m. on Monday , August 14th at the West Mendon United Methodist Church.
