Matthew Slater

Matthew James Slater 45 of Saginaw, formerly of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011. He was born on March 29, 1966 in Saginaw the son of late Ronald L. and Phyllis S. (Herzberg) Slater. Matthew graduated from St. Charles High School in 1984 and then entered the US Navy. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking, the outdoors and music. Matthew loved being a Dad. Matthew is survived by his daughters, Janelle Slater of Kalkaska and Holly Sue Slater, siblings, Steven (Sherri) Slater and Julia (Craig) Eisley all of Bellaire and nephew, Jake Slater. Cremation has taken place. An informal gathering will be held 1pm to 4pm Monday, January 2, 2012 at the Life Story Funeral Home, Traverse City. A brief military honors ceremony will be held at 3:30pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Goodwill Inn or the Father Fred Foundation.
