Corliss, Jr, Matthew Lee 11/20/1997 - 2/3/2023 Kalamazoo Matthew Lee Corliss, Jr unexpectedly passed away on February 3, 2023 at the age of 25. Matthew was born on November 20, 1997 to Deborah Louise Price and Matthew Lee Corliss. As a young child, Matthew enjoyed playing many different sports, snowboarding, riding dirt bikes and watching his father race stockcars. He was in Cub Scouts and took pride in winning the pinewood derby with the help of his dad. He loved learning the guitar and playing music in the garage with his mom and step-father, Andy. He even took a spin at driving a racecar and in his very first race he won the checkered flag! Matthew was the one you called when you needed a large bug, spider or snake taken care of, he had no fear! As a teenager and young adult Matthew was always so giving. Matthew attended Portage Northern High school where he took up wrestling and especially loved training and getting in shape for meets. This began his love for physical fitness and he spent many hours strength training. He graduated from Portage Northern in 2016, and after graduation he joined the Marine Corp. Completing basic training was one of his proudest accomplishments. In recent years Matthew had gotten back into strength training and enjoyed competing in kickboxing matches. Matthew is survived by his parents Deborah (Andy) Campbell, Matthew (Jodie) Corliss; a daughter, Layla, a son, Garrison, due in March 2023; siblings Taylor Corliss, Ryan (Rachel) Beadle and Jessica Beadle; grandmothers, Marie Price, Linda Corliss, Carol Wood and Helen Sywyj; many aunts, uncles and cousins and a special friend, Emily.
