Mathew “Matty” Ferraro, age 89, passed away Saturday, January 2, 2016 at Ridgewood Care Center. Matty was born in Racine, April 27, 1926, son of the late Sam and Marie (Nee: Bruno) Ferraro.

During World War II he proudly served in the United States Army in the European Theatre. Matty was employed by Sears for over thirty years and previously at the Rainfair Men’s Store for ten years. He was a longtime member of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, Roma Lodge for over fifty years, and Meadowbrook Country Club for thirty-two years. He will be fondly remembered for his love of dancing, golfing, and singing Frank Sinatra tunes. Most of all he devoted and treasured time spent with his family.

He will be dearly missed by his loving wife of sixty years, Jean (Nee: Becker); his children, Kim A. Ferraro of Oconomowoc, WI, Joseph M. Ferraro of Chicago, IL; his three grandchildren, Nicholas Neitzel, Abigail Neitzel, and Mathew Ferraro; brother-in-law, Walter “Bud” Becker of Clearwater, FL; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Tony, Ernie, Carmen; and sister, Ann Brehm.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016, 10:00 A.M. at Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church, 1700 South Green Bay Road, with Rev. David Echelbarger officiating. Interment with Full Military Honors will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 A.M. until time of service at 10:00 A.M. Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter, 620 South 76th Street STE 160, Milwaukee, WI, 53214 have been suggested.

The family extends a special thank you to the staff at Ridgewood Care Center, Heartland Hospice, and his private caregivers for their loving and compassionate care.
