Obituary
MaryAnn Lilian (Lewandowski) Cochrane, 83 of Portage, passed away on Saturday, July 4, 2026 at Bickford Cottage in Portage.
MaryAnn was born on June 30, 1943 into a multigenerational home where she lived with grandparents, parents and uncles. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She would help anyone who asked. MaryAnn attended almost every activity her children and grandchildren were involved in. She would be the one yelling the loudest.
MayAnn attended Five Holy Martyrs Elementary School, Lourdes High School, Chicago, Illinois and Marquette University in Milwaukee where she obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
She worked for Holy Cross Hospital in Chicago, as a nurse. In Chicago, she was active with a bowling league and with the Polish Roman Catholic Union of America. When the family moved to Michigan, she worked at Tendercare Nursing Home as a nurse and at Hackett Catholic Central in the cafeteria. She volunteered in the cafeteria at St. Monica's as well as with Boy Scout Troop 211. MaryAnn worked on numerous volunteer opportunities with the Boy Scouts including chairing their spaghetti dinner.
Anyone who knew MaryAnn, knew she had a love of travel, lighthouses and sunsets. The family traveled across the United States and was able to see many different sights and adventures. MaryAnn and Terry along with friends, also traveled the world together.
MaryAnn is survived by Terrance "Terry" her husband of 55 years; her daughter, Rebecca (Scott) Walker and sons, Eric (Tanya) Cochrane and Lawrence (Holly) Cochrane, her grandchildren, Harrison, Benjamin, Joseph, Elizabeth, Lilian, Caleb, Abigail and step grandchildren, Brianna, Matthew and Madison.
Visitation for MaryAnn will take place on Sunday, July 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes 622 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11:00 am at St. Monica Catholic Church (4408 S. Westnedge Ave. Kalamazoo, MI 49008) with Fr. Tom McNally officiating. Lunch will follow in the Community Building. Burial will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery (15501 Dickman Rd. Augusta, MI 49012) at 2:00 PM.
