Mary Schau

She was born December 14, 1951 in Kalamazoo the daughter of Harry G. and Susan (Ward) Schau. Mary Jane was a graduate of Comstock High School, Nazareth College and the University of Georgia. She was a teacher for the Walled Lake Schools for 23 years, and most recently was the Curriculum Developer of Language Arts and Social Studies for K 12. She was a tremendous resource for other educators in the district. Mary Jane was a giver, always doing things for others, without wanting the attention that sometimes came with it. She treasured time spent with her family and friends. To know her, was to love her. She is survived by husband, Vincent Houle; mother, Susan Schau; siblings, Thomas (Judy) Schau and Patricia (Tim) Lisk; nephews, Matthew, Nathan (Gina) and Michael Schau; and in-laws, Janice Markey, Dianne (Charlie) Jaskolski, Merry Lynn Herdell, Gwen (Bruce) Nix, Gracia Houle and Diana Houle; and 18 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Schau; and in-laws, Sylvia Houle, Alan Houle, Larry Houle, David Houle and Joe Herdell. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, October 22, 2016 at 9:30 am until the time of a Memorial Mass at 12:00 PM at Our Mother of Perpetual Help - St. James Campus, 241 Pearson, Ferndale, MI 48237.
