Mary Barnes

Barnes, Mary L. 8/2/1941 - 12/8/2016 Kalamazoo Age 75, went to be with the Lord on December 8, 2016, with her loving family at her side. She was born in Lawton, MI, on August 2, 1941, the daughter of the late Lewis and Margaret (Burch) Town. Mary was a kind, loving and gentle woman who had a strong faith in Christ. On August 6, 1960, she married the love of her life Robert Barnes who survives. She was a gifted seamstress and loved sewing and crafts. She enjoyed traveling and was a long time member of Spring Valley Church where she was very active; her smile will be missed on Sunday mornings. Mary loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves them with many special memories and the legacy of a life lived with faith. She is also survived by her children, Bob (Laura) Barnes Jr., Penny (Bill) Conway and Pam (Mark) Coughlin; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Clyde (Linda) Barnes; many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in passing by two sisters, Ethel McNett and Barbara Merchant. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016, at Spring Valley Church, 5240 Mt. Olivet Rd., Kalamazoo, MI 49004, beginning at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Kyle Wartella officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Spring Valley Church, c/o of the funeral home.
