Martha (Marty) Lentz joined beloved family and friends in Heaven on September 2, 2025.

Born in 1942, she was the eldest sibling of seven, and the mother of two daughters. She had lived in Kalamazoo for the past 47 years. She had numerous close, loving friends who visited in her final hours, along with three generations of family including a newborn great granddaughter. She was a grateful friend of Bill W. for 5 decades and loved being a sponsor. She was a WMU graduate and her careers always involved helping and supporting others, as a substance abuse therapist, a housing coordinator, and a skin care specialist. Her vibrant, colorful, and happy personality showed through in her sense of style and home decoration. She loved being Irish. She loved AA and Unity Church. She loved her apartment and her plants. She loved her car. She loved her family. She was a happy lady and we will miss her bright, smiling face. She asked that this poem be included in her obituary-.

To Those Who I Love and Those Who Love Me.

When I am gone, release me and let me go.

I have so many things to see and do.

You mustn't tie yourself to me with tears.

Be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess.

How much you gave to me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown.

But now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve a while for me, if grieve you must.

Then let your grief be comforted by trust.

It's only for a little while that we must part.

So bless the memories within your heart.

I won't be far away, for life goes on.

So, if you need me, call, and I will come.

Though you can't see me or touch me, I'll be near.

And if you listen with your heart, you'll hear.

All of my love around you soft and clear.

And then, when you must come this way alone,.

I'll greet you with a smile and welcome you home.
