ALBERTSON, MARJORIE IRENE BENNER Marjorie Irene Benner Albertson, age 95 of Gainesville, GA passed away peacefully on September 7, 2016, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, Hospice Center. Born January 1, 1921, Marjorie was one of the six children of Wilbert and Helen Benner, of Grand Rapids, MI. She was the last surviving sibling. She was married August 13, 1945 to Stanley F. (Stub) Albertson of Kalamazoo, MI. She lived in Kalamazoo for over fifty years, and as a longtime member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church where she served faithfully on the Altar Guild. Mrs. Albertson worked for Mr. Jim Gilmore of Gilmore Enterprises for over twenty years. She was Executive Secretary, and later, Vice President of the company. Upon retirement, she volunteered with Ministry With Community and St. Luke's Thrift Shop. She was a Red Cross volunteer also, and served in Charleston, SC after Hurricane Hugo. After Mr. Albertson's passing on March 24, 1987, she continued her volunteer work in Kalamazoo. With the birth of her granddaughter, Kathryn Hughes, in 1992, Mrs. Albertson moved to Gainesville, GA. She spent many happy years involved in her grandchild's activities, and continuing her volunteerism, most notably, at Lanier Elementary School. Mrs. Albertson is survived by her daughter, Jo Ellen Albertson Hughes, granddaughter, Kathryn Elizabeth Hughes, and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Services will be held Mon. Sept. 19, 2016 at 4:30pm at Grace Episcopal Church, with Rev. Stuart Higginbotham and Rev. Dr. Cynthia Park officiating. The family will meet with friends before the service at 4:00pm in the church parlor. Interment will be at a later date in St. Luke's Resurrection Garden, in Kalamazoo, MI. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, My Sister's Place of Gainesville, GA, Ministry With Community of Kalamazoo, MI, or a charity of your choice .
