Passed away Sunday, October 29, 2006 in Plainwell. Mrs. Hinkle was born March 27, 1926 in Hillsdale, MI, to Frank and Virgie (Palmer) Stiles. Marilyn was a member of P.E.O Chapter ED, the First Congregational Church and the Ladies Guild, Friends of the Library and golfed on a league for many years. She also belonged to Bridge and Pinochle Clubs; was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting baby blankets and afghans. Marilyn was a great listener and encourager, a devoted grandmother and cared deeply for her many friends. On November 23, 1943 in Hillsdale she married Jack Hinkle. For over 40 years, Jack and Marilyn owned and operated Hinkle's Bakery in Otsego. He passed away in 1998. Also preceding her in death were her son, Ron Hinkle; three sisters and a brother, Margaret Cuyler, Ken Stiles, Norma Rose and Shirley Sawdey. Surviving are a son and a daughter, John (Pat) Hinkle of Mattawan, and Connie Obreiter of Otsego; daughter-in-law, Deanna Hinkle of Otsego; 9 grandchildren, Ronda (Jeff) Conner, Isaac (Sara) Hinkle, John (Heather) Hinkle, Carly (Phillip) Kissinger, Luke Hinkle, Dan Hinkle, Susie Hinkle, Nate Hinkle and Amy Hinkle; 10 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and a special cousin, Gloria. Friends may meet the family from 2 to 4 and 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the
Winkel Funeral Home Otsego. Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church of Otsego with Pastor Don Ray officiating. Cremation will follow with burial of ashes at Mountain Home Cemetery, Otsego. Contributions in memory of Marilyn may be made to the First Congregational Church or the Otsego District Public Library.
