Obituary
Marilyn Ann Batzer, 66, of Belding, died Thursday morning, August 7, 2008, at her home with her family by her side. Marilyn was born August 23, 1941 in Belding, the daughter of Ferdinand and Rena Andres Breimayer. Marilyn worked as a cook for Belding Area Schools since 1969. Besides making sure everyone had plenty of good food and homemade rolls, Marilyn became a friend to many of the students and staff. She had a special relationship with the football and wrestling programs. Many of her summers were spent at football camp, Friday nights at football games and Saturdays at wrestling tournaments. Marilyn referred to these young men as her boys. The love and friendship she gave was returned by many throughout the years. Marilyn received the honor of the Belding Area Schools Gold Star Award for outstanding service to the district and students in 1999. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Norman; her son, Jeff Batzer; her grandchildren, Brad Batzer and Haylee Batzer, all of Belding. She is also survived by her brothers, Wayne and Nancy Breimayer, Jerry Breimayer, and Gary Breimayer, all of Belding; her sister-in-law, Ester; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Fr. Fred Brucker officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday at Johnson-Feuerstein Funeral Home, Belding with at rosary prayed at 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to the Marilyn Batzer Scholarship Fund (envelopes available at the funeral home).
