Marian E. Gottschalk, age 95, passed away Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Becker Shoop Center. Marian was born in Racine, May 20, 1920, daughter of the late Arthur and Ann (Nee: Wiliams) Fox.

On June 16, 1945 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church she was united in marriage to Walter J. Gottschalk who preceded her in death, July 1, 1987. Marian was a lifetime and active member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school and served on various committees for many years. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and cooking. She will be remembered as “The Avon Lady” on the north side for many years. Above all Marian devoted her life to her family and treasured time spent with them.

She will be dearly missed by her children, Gene (Janice) Gottschalk of MN, Jay Gottschalk of Racine, Donald (Charlotte) Gottschalk of Racine; grandchildren, Brian (Erica) Gottschalk, Cheryl (Schuyler) Belott; her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Jacob, Andrew, Brady, and Bryce; brother-in-law, Elmer Herchen of Racine; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Laura and Benjamin Gottschalk; sisters, Janet Herchen, Dorothy (Gene) Hlavka, and Alice (John) Grudzinski.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 3, 2015, 10:00 A.M. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 728 Villa Street with Reverend John Roekle officiating. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Relatives and friends may meet Sunday at the funeral home 4-6 p.m. and on Monday at the church 9:30 A.M. until time of service. Memorials to The First Evangelical Lutheran Church have been suggested.
