Maria Leyva

Maria R. Leyva, age 43, of Kalamazoo, MI went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 17, 2017. She was born in Battle Creek, MI, on May 21, 1973, the daughter of William and Janice (Lewis) Curry. She had a kind and gentle heart, warm smile and was a joy to be around. Maria was a gifted artist and was very creative. She was passionate about music, angels and butterflies. She had a strong faith in the Lord and was attending Radiant Church in Richland. Above all she loved her family and her friends, and leaves them with many wonderful memories to cherish. She was united in marriage to Derek Leyva who preceded her in passing in 2008. She was also preceded in passing by her father and a brother Hosea Curry. Maria is survived by three children, Isaac Curry, Tyler Leyva and Elise Leyva; her mother; six siblings, Naomi (Chris), Heidi, David (Deb), Sara, Kristen and Elisha; many nieces, nephews and friends. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017, at Radiant Church, 8157 East DE Ave., Richland, MI 49083, from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM will follow, with Pastor Jon Zondervan officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Leyva Family (checks payable to David Curry) or Interact, c/o the Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home.
