Obituary
Margaret "Maggie" Irene Schouwburg, age 81 of Kalamazoo, died on October 16, 2025. She was born on October 31, 1943, in Kalamazoo, the daughter of Louis and Barbara (Toth) Sabo. Maggie was a 1961 graduate of Richland High School and received her LPN license. She was a nurse at Borgess Medical Center until 1990. The next 15 years were spent as a nurse at Plainwell Nursing Home, and she finished her career as a nurse at Plainwell Pipp Hospital. In 1963, she married John Schouwburg, and they were blessed with three children. Maggie was on several bowling leagues in the Kalamazoo area. She is in the Kalamazoo Area Women's Bowling Hall of Fame and coached youth bowling for several years. Maggie enjoyed time with her family whether she was cooking or on a camping adventure. Maggie loved sharing her Hungarian food dishes with her friends and family. She cherished her later years with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family includes her children: Kim (Andy) Crance and Jim (Dawn) Schouwburg; her grandchildren: Brandi (Josh) Norum, Alyssa (Nicole) Crance, Codie (Jacob) Kurka and Maggie Schouwburg; her great-grandchildren: Lukas Crance, Jonathan Norum, Derek Norum and Theo Kurka; niece Michele (Chris) Koch, nephew Scott (Kathy) Triezenberg and niece-in-law Tara (Josh) Benton. She was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Barbara Sabo, husband John Schouwburg, son Johnny, sister Barbara Horne and nephew Mike Triezenberg. Friends are invited to visit with her family at her memorial service on November 1, 2025, at 12:00 PM at St. Andrews Community Church, 3631 Covington Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49001, with Rev.
