Manuel Reyna

Manuel Orta Reyna, age 89, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away on Saturday evening, May 13, 2017 at his home. He was born on February 29, 1928 in San Luis Potosi, Mexico, the son of Jesus and Juana (Reyna) Orta. On November 18, 1949, he was married to Guadalupe Zuniga in Brownsville, Texas. Manuel was employed by Allied Paper Co. for 32 years until his retirement. He also was the co-owner of Orta's Mexican Food, P&M Auto Sales and Orta's Trash Hauling. Manuel was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife of 67 years: Guadalupe Orta; their 7 children: Juan (Gail) Orta, Jose Orta, Joel (Helen) Orta, Jesus Orta, Julian (Jona) Orta, Julie (Michael) Johnson and Juanita (Lewis) Snell; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; brother: Mateo Orta; 3 sisters: Sara Valverde, Raquel Reyna and Celia Orta; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM on Wednesday, May 17, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, with a rosary beginning at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 18, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 936 Lake Street. Msgr. Michael Hazard will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
