Luella Holmes

Holmes, Luella G. Otsego, MI Luella passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at Vicinia Gardens in Otsego. She was born at home in Trowbridge Township in Allegan, on October 12, 1927, the daughter of George and Josephine (Harper) Kurtz. Luella was a lifelong resident of the area. She had worked at Elams Stationary, Allegan Paper Products, Fram Filters and Delano Printing in Allegan until her retirement after 30 years of service in 1990. She enjoyed lunch with her friends, taking care of her many flowers and plants and going to yard sales. Most of all she loved spending time with her extended family and enjoyed her two cats. On November 1, 1946 in Allegan, she married Merle Holmes who passed away in 2010. Luella was a longtime member of Trowbridge Methodist Church. Surviving are her children, Kathleen (Charles) Wearne of Allegan, Scott (Valerie) Holmes of Allegan and Lorna (Michael) VanLent of Otsego; 9 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild and a very special friend, Roger Norman. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her parents; son, Garry; brothers, Gilbert Kurtz and Charles (Glenna) Kurtz and sister, Mable (Earl) Holmes. Friends may visit with Luella's family starting at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at the Winkel Funeral Home, Otsego, until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Greg Carlson officiating. Burial will follow at Mountain Home Cemetery in Otsego. Contributions in memory of Luella may be made to Medical Team Hospice or Trowbridge Community Church.
