Loyce Helen Wenzel, age 89, peacefully entered Heaven on October 5, 2025. Born in White Pigeon, Michigan, on October 19, 1935, to Victor and Francis Gilreath, Loyce grew up on Factory Street with her brother, Victor. She graduated from White Pigeon High School and later from The College of Commerce, a business school, in South Bend, Indiana.
Loyce married the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Wenzel, on June 2, 1956, at Holy Angels Catholic Church. They shared nearly 65 wonderful years together, raising four sons and building both a family and a successful roofing business in Sturgis, Michigan. Loyce served as the backbone of the business and the heart of the family.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Loyce had a tireless work ethic, a welcoming spirit, and a gift for making everyone feel important. She volunteered in her church, community, and local hospital, and was known for her kindness, sense of humor, and deep faith.
She loved traveling, music, gardening, Notre Dame, Albion & Western games, family trips, and holiday sing-alongs at the piano. Loyce and Dick also enjoyed winters in Florida and their cottage at Austin Lake, where they created lasting memories with family.
Loyce is survived by her four sons: Dr. Michael (Debra), Timothy (Maureen), Jeffery (Jim), and Andrew (Tamela); 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dick; daughter, Baby Jane; parents; and brother.
