Lorrie Pyka

Lorrie D. Pyka, age 48 of West Olive, died Fri-day, March 26, 2010 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She had been courageously battling a second diag-nosis of colon cancer since 2007. Lorrie was well known in the community for her strength and generosity. She worked at the Hol-land Post Office as a clerk for 17 years for a total of 22 years with the Postal Service. Prior to moving to Michigan in 1993, she also served in the U. S. Army Reserves for 14 years. Lorrie is survived by her husband of 20 years, Walter Pyka of West Olive; her children, Deborah and husband, Gary West of Stafford Springs, CT., Virginia Torpey, current-ly serving in the U. S. Air Force, stationed in Pan-ama City, FL., Jonathan Pyka, Stephanie Pyka and Jennifer Pyka all at home; her granddaugh-t-ers, Emily and Megan West; her mother, Louise DeVaux of Vernon, CT.; 5 siblings. She was pre-ceded in death by her father, Charles DeVaux, in 2002. A funeral mass will be 11: 00 a. m. Wednesday, March 31, 2010 at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, 480 152nd Ave. in Holland with Father Charles Hall officiating. Visitation will be 1: 30-4 and 7- 9 p. m. Tuesday, with a prayer service at 7: 30 pm at the Lange-land- Sterenberg Funeral Home, 315 E. 16th St. Holland.
