Loren Bolhuis

Bolhuis, Loren H. 4/22/1931 - 10/8/2022 Portage Loren Bolhuis peacefully passed away on October 8, 2022. Loren was born in Vicksburg, MI in 1931, the youngest child of the late Harm and Alice (Knapper). Loren was a longtime member of Lakeland Reformed Church and a lifelong resident of the Portage, MI area. Before his retirement, he was a partner in Bolhuis Brothers Construction before founding Homes by Loren. Loren was married to the late Edna (Collins) for almost 70 years; they are now reunited in Heaven. He was the proud father of David (Patty) Bolhuis, of Saint Simons Island, GA, Ken Bolhuis, Dennis Bolhuis and Sandi (Dave) VanderKlok, of Scotts MI. He is survived by two children, David and Sandi; six grandchildren Shelby (Marc) Brennan, Michelle (Gavin) Loth, Paul (Amber) Bolhuis, Jessica (Gary) Laverick, Jason (Melissa) VanderKlok and Dennis Bolhuis; six great-grandchildren, Beckett, Braeden, Riley and Rory Brennan, Emmett Durfee and Isadora VanderKlok; several nieces and nephews, including Garry Boelman who was a particular source of comfort in recent years. He was preceded in death by two sons, Dennis and Ken; siblings, Bill and Grace; many other family members and friends. Loren will be laid to rest next to Edna during a private family ceremony.
