Nafziger, Lois I. 11/8/1925 - 8/3/2022 Richland, MI Lois I. (Swanson) Nafziger, age 96, of Richland, died peacefully Wednesday evening, August 3, 2022 at the Heritage Assisted Living of Battle Creek, MI with her loving family at her side. Lois, the daughter of Andrew and Edna (Shellenger) Swanson was born in Sioux City, IA on November 8, 1925 and attended schools in Sioux City and Cleghorn, Iowa. She was a dedicated wife and mother, but also worked for more than 17 years as an administrative assistant at Abitibi Price Wood Products in Troy, Michigan. Lois was united in marriage to Verne R. Nafziger in Cleghorn, IA on September 6, 1948; he sadly preceded her in death after more than 71 years on October 8, 2019. She is survived by her daughter, Deanne L. (David) Perrin of Augusta; four precious granddaughters, Jennifer (Samuel) Miller, Jessica (Glenn) McDowell, Julie Clark, Franklin Clark and Kristin Bennett; and seven great-grandchildren, Liam, Charlotte and Dawson Clark, Wilder and Jett McDowell and Teagan and Camden Reid. Lois was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Barbara Bennett in 1992; a great-granddaughter, Olivia L. Miller; and two sisters, Marjorie McIntosh and Velma Matheney Lois and her husband, Verne lived in Kansas City area until 1968 and then moved their family to the Detroit area, where Verne worked for several retail stores until 1990. They then moved to the Richland area to enjoy their retirement with family. Lois was many things to many people. A dedicated woman of faith and loyal to the First Presbyterian Church of Richland. She was generous with her time and spent countless hours volunteering at Borgess and many other hospitals. She enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her family who meant everything to her. The Graveside Service to honor Lois' life will be held 12:00 noon, Thursday, August 11th at the Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, MI with the Rev. Dr. Mark W. Jennings officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Lois' honor may be directed to the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Fund, P.O.
