Kekic, Linda K. Kalamazoo Age 73, passed away January 14, 2023. Linda was born in Muskegon, on September 5, 1949, the daughter of Bruce and Gladys (Austin) House. On September 22, 1984, she married Nicholas Kekic at Crane Park, who survives her. Linda worked for 25 years in human services for Van Buren and Kalamazoo counties, overseeing programs involving protective services for both children and adults. She also oversaw the Kids Connection program which was dear to her heart. Linda was a gifted artist whose glass and jewelry creations have been featured in local galleries and retail shops. Linda was often seen at Art on the Mall, The People's Church holiday bazaar, Kalamazoo Nature Center and the KIA. She taught glass art and jewelry making in several venues, including the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts and was owner of House Jewelry. Linda also served as Executive Director of the West Michigan Glass Art Society and was currently serving as Business Manager at Kazoo School. She was a founding member of the Eclectic Glass Guild. She was a world traveler and had just returned from Antarctica two weeks ago. Her greatest joy in the world was having a pool party with her family, whom she cherished more than anything. Besides her husband, Linda is survived by her children, David (Shante) Newbury of Grand Ledge, Sonita (Drew Schau) Newbury of Kalamazoo, Aaron (Ronna Casement) Rosenburg of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Kali (Josh) Mullen, Colby Schau, Kendall Schau; siblings, Eunice Jennings, Pam (Steve) Nelson; former brother in law, Robert Jennings; several nieces and nephews and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Joldersma & Klein Funeral Home, 917 S. Burdick St., Kalamazoo. Friends may call on the family on Friday. January 20, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Linda will be laid to rest at West Cooper Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kazoo School, in c/o the funeral home.
