Linda Burks

Burks, Linda Kay 6/26/1949 - 3/27/2020 Comstock Linda Kay (Carpenter) Burks Comstock, MI Linda passed away peacefully at home early Friday morning March 27, 2020, surrounded by family and friends after a lengthy battle with COPD. She was born June 26, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan. For many years she was a foster parent and also provided respite care for many children over three decades. She loved having friends and family over in the summer to swim in the pool and holidays in the winter. She enjoyed crocheting and trips to the casino. The daughter of the late Howard and Gladys (Reynolds) Carpenter. Linda grew up in Galesburg, MI, where she married her husband of 36 years, Buddy Burks who preceded her in death on March 20, 2002. Also preceded in death by her brother Tom Carpenter. Surviving are her two sons; Tony (Eve) Burks, Todd (Audrey) Burks, two daughters; Tonia Burks, Sherry Burks, three grandchildren; Josh Johnston, Jeremy Johnston, Danica (Nic) Nieuwenhuis, three great grandchildren; Chloe Nieuwenhuis, Aubrey Nieuwenhuis and Rian Corigliano. Also surviving are five sisters; Sue Meyers, Barb White, Brenda (Jeff) Goorehouse, Debbie (Floyd) Sperry, Terri (Bob) Jones and a very special sister-in-law Joyce "Mable" Eaves along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and close family friends. She is already deeply missed. Following her wishes cremation has taken place. The family is planning a celebration of life at a later date.
