Lawrence Ralph Rogers, age 70, of Kalamazoo, MI formerly of Dearborn, MI died on May 19, 2015. Larry was born in Detroit on December 8, 1944, the son of the late Ralph and Erma (Bennington) Rogers. He served with the United States Army during Vietnam. He attended Western Michigan University, where he received his Masters Degree in Business Administration. He was employed as a realtor before starting his own construction business, Lawrence R. Rogers & Sons Builders. Larry enjoyed flying and piloted his own plane. He was an avid outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a truly unique individual who will be greatly missed. He is survived by his former wife and their two sons, Janet, Brent and Ryan Rogers all of Kalamazoo; and one brother, Dale (Kate) Rogers of Traverse City. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Logan Bennington Rogers; and one nephew, Geoffrey Bennington Rogers. Larry will also be missed by his two dogs, Zip and Maguire. Friends may visit with the family from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2015 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th St., Kalamazoo, MI 49009. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home, with Scott Burdick officiating. Private interment will be in Genesee Prairie Cemetery.
