Schriemer, Laurie Rae 4/3/1963 - 3/31/2023 Scotts, MI Laurie Rae Schriemer passed away peacefully at her home Friday morning, March 31, 2023. She was born April 3, 1963, in Elkhart, IN the daughter of Raymond L. and Dianne C. (Murray) Dale. Laurie was known for her joy, kindness, and selfless love. Her infectious smile and laugh lit up every room she walked into. Her love for Jesus and her family meant everything to her. Laurie graduated from Portage Central High School in 1981. In May of 1984 she married her husband, Rick, and they had three children together: Tyler, Trevor, and Lexie. After the early years focusing on her family at home, Laurie spent many years in retail sales at Kohl's Department Store where she worked in management and gained many lifelong friends along the way. As grandchildren started to come along, they instantly took over her heart. Most days you could find Laurie studying her Bible, praying for her friends and family, baking her famous Nana Bread, singing, and playing with her grand kids, or spending time with her best friend, Rick. Laurie had a way of making you feel truly loved and valued without having to say much at all. Two years ago, Laurie was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and despite multiple hurdles thrown her way, she refused to quit and showed an astounding amount of strength to keep fighting. Laurie's strength was fueled by her favorite verse, "I can to all things through Christ who strengthens me." Philippians 4:13 Laurie was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Dale, and father- and mother-in-law, Bob & Ardy Schriemer. On May 12, 1984, Laurie married Rick Schriemer who survives. Also surviving are her children, Tyler (Nicole) Schriemer, Trevor (Monica) Schriemer, and Lexie (Andrew) Belcher; grandchildren, Hayden, Ayla, Aubrey, Wyatt, Hannah, and Truett; mother, Dianne Blease; brothers, Jeff (Cindie) Dale and Chris Dale; mother-in-law, Linda Schriemer; brothers- and sisters-in law, Sheri (Don) Slot, Tom (Ellen) Schriemer, and Patti (Steve) Hollenbeck; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on April 12, 2023, at Radiant Church, Portage Campus, 995 Romence Rd, Portage, MI 49024. Laurie's family will begin receiving guests at the church at 12:00pm. Light refreshments and fellowship to follow the service. Private inurnment services will be held later.
