Larry Holmes

Holmes, Larry A. of Kalamazoo Larry passed away on Friday morning, September 16, 2016 at Kairos Dwelling in Kalamazoo. He was born on May 12, 1941 in Kalamazoo, the son of the late Frank E. and Laura J. (Snyder) Holmes. Larry was employed by The Upjohn Co. for 29 years until his retirement (from Pharmacia) in 1999. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and spending time at his summer cottage. Larry was a kind man, always willing to lend a helping hand when needed. Surviving are his wife: Judi Holmes; two children: Beth Holmes Drake of Plainwell and Mark Holmes of Kalamazoo; six grandchildren: Joshua Drake, Jacob Drake, Courtnie Holmes, Zachary (Erin) Holmes, Nathan (Cecilla) Holmes, and Lindsay (Nolan) Gaureidi; four great-grandchildren and devoted companion: Screamer. Preceding him in death were his parents and brother, Wayne Holmes. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, Sept. 19, at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Memorial Chapel, 622 S. Burdick Street, where friends may visit with his family from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Rev. James Dyke will officiate. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park.
