Kurt Groggel

Kurt H. Groggel Jr., age 94, of Kalamazoo, MI passed away Friday, April 23, 2016. Kurt was born in Kalamazoo, December 22, 1921, the son of Kurt Sr. and Esther (Hendrick) Groggel. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was employed by Eaton Corp. (Transmission Division) for 31 years. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy during WWII. On February 6, 1942, he married Betty Houseknecht, who preceded him in death on November 8, 1942. On September 14, 1946, he married June M. Prak, who preceded him in death on February 26, 1987. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Harold and Donald Groggel and his sister, Dorothy Hackenberg and daughter in-law, Grace Groggel. Surviving are his children, Larry Groggel, Linda (Bill) Dominguez, Bill (Dale), Kurt III, Ken (Julie), Bob (Cathy) and Tim (Annette) Groggel; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Mary) Groggel; several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 2122 Bronson Blvd., Kalamazoo, MI 49008, Rev. Tim Seeber officiating. Visitation will take place at the church one hour prior to the service. Private interment at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South.
