Kenneth Lacey

Passed away Thursday morning, September 9, 2021 at his home. Ken was born December 30, 1929 in Allegan, MI the son of Myron and Hazel (Dustin) Lacey. Ken spent his whole life in Portage, MI except for 2 years in the U.S. Army and a one year transfer on his job in Dayton, OH. He was the second of four generations who graduated from Portage Central High School and earned his BS at Western Michigan University in 1955. Ken worked at the Mead Corporation for 38 years and retired in 1991. Ken was an avid golfer who loved nature; tending his yard and flowers; and his family and friends. While he served in the Army in Korea, he was chosen to teach the Columbian soldiers English. He was born again into the family of God in March of 1971 and was active in service to his church from then on. On October 21, 1954 he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Carol (Skelton) who survives. Also surviving are his 3 children, Kevin (Cynthia) Lacey, Laura Mansfield, Matthew (Barbara) Lacey; 12 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Mae (Dustin) Lacey; father, Myron Lacey; and half sister, Linda Lacey. Friends may meet the family from 4:00-7:00pm Monday, September 13 at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, 3926 South 9th Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Interment will be in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at 11:00am Tuesday, September 14 followed by a memorial service at 1:00pm at Valley Family Church, 2500 Vincent Ave, Portage, MI 49024.
