Passed away peacefully on June 17, 2019 in her Jupiter, FL residence. Born on March 10, 1944 in Marcellus, MI., Kay was the daughter of Robert and Carol (McKenzie) Bainbridge. She was raised on their farm and graduated from Marcellus High School. After her freshman year at Michigan State University, she married Randal Eddy. The couple moved to Galveston, Texas where Kay raised their beloved children, Doug and Angie, and where she also completed her R.N. degree. Upon her return to Kalamazoo she worked at Bronson Hospital in the mother baby unit. After retiring from Bronson Hospital, she worked part-time at Pine Rest in Grand Rapids, MI. On May 24, 2003, Kay married Jack DeMaagd. They enjoyed sixteen years together, traveling, biking, spending winter months in Jupiter, and worshiping at Unity Church. Family and friends, who frequently consulted her on health issues, will remember Kay's personal concern and compassion. They will also remember that she met her own struggle with breast cancer, just like she met other struggles in her life, with determination, grace and faith. Kay was preceded in death by her first husband, her Father Robert Bainbridge, her aunt Berdine, and her brother, Dennis Bainbridge. She leaves many dear ones who mourn her passing: husband, Jack DeMaagd; Mother, Carol Bainbridge (Grand Rapids); Uncle, Keith (Darlene) McKenzie; and aunt, Sharon (Brant) Cotterman (Florida). Also her brother, Gary (Jill) Bainbridge (Pennsylvania); sister, Ann (Jeff) Frymier (Ohio); children, Douglas Eddy (South Haven), Angela Atteberry (Paw Paw); granddaughter, Karissa Hapke (Kalamazoo), and several close nieces and nephews; Ashley Foster, Kyle Bainbridge, Allyson Riccardi, Ross Bainbridge, Julie and Nick Frymier. A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday, July 23rd at 11:00am at Unity Church at 1204 Whites Road in Kalamazoo. Private burial will take place in Marcellus Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to The Unity Church of Kalamazoo. Please visit Kay's personalized webpage for directions, online guestbook, or to leave a condolence. Arrangements were made by the Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 622 S. Burdick St, Kalamazoo, MI 49007. https://www.langelands.com.
