Passed away Sunday, February 6, 2005. Karl was born August 19, 1917 in Kalamazoo, the son of Benjamin and Anna (Raeubig) Bill and has been a lifelong area resident. He served for 4 years in the U.S. Army Air Force during WW II. Karl was a member of the American Legion Post, the VFW Post #1527 and the Schoolcraft Eagles. For 23 years he was employed with Cresent Engraving and had worked for 15 years in the print shop at The Upjohn Company prior to his retirement. On September 21, 1942 he was united in marriage to the former Nellie Reyerse who preceded him in death on February 28, 1990. He was also preceded in death by his parents and by siblings, Arjen Bill, Olga Gould, Francis Schuster, Jessie Flagg, Calvin Bill and Maxine Chamberlin. Surviving are his daughter and son, Nancy (Douglas) Bresson of Scotts and Ken (Joyce) Bill of Galesburg; 4 grandchildren, Michael Cole, Traci Miller, Lori Saldivar and Jennifer Bill; 6 great-grandchildren, Michaela Cole, Meaghan Miller, Amanda Miller, Vanessa Ritchie, Joey Saldivar and Stephen Saldivar; a sister, Pauline (Adolf) Stoppelberg; a sister-in-law, Eleanor Bill and several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Portage Chapel, 411 E. Centre Ave. where Funeral Services will be held 1:00pm Thursday. Interment will follow in Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. Memorials in Karl's memory may be directed to Heartland Hospice, or the American Lung Association (Emphysema).
