June went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 28, 2020 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Leo and Florence Wilson, June 7, 1929 in West New York, New Jersey and was raised in Cliffside Park, NJ. June married Leo Filipowicz in 1947 and they lived together in NJ for 27 years before relocating to Richland in 1974. Leo and June were married for 53 years. Leo died in 2000. June is survived by seven children: Craig Filipowicz (Diane) of Groveland, CA; Pam Mansager (Tom) of Richland, Ml; Jane Carlson (Bob) of Plano, TX; Claudia Evenboer (Bill) of Portage, Ml; Stephen Filipowicz (Christine) of Waterloo, Ontario; Noreen Arnold (Jack) of Kalamazoo, Ml; and Leo Filipowicz (Dawn) of Amissville, VA. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and counting. June is also survived by her sisters Lois Picardi and Shirley DeRito, both of Delray Beach, FL and her sister-in-law Florence Soldo of Cliffside Park, NJ. June's sister Connie Cloutier predeceased her. June considered her most important role to be that of wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved having the family together during the holidays. She created a culture within the family where the preparation of food and gathering for meals became an integral part of the family identity. June was a member of St. Ann Church since 1974, and was an active member of their Mother's Guild. She was also on the committee that arranged funeral lunches. June volunteered at the USTA Boys 18 & 16 National Championship Tennis Tournament at Kalamazoo College for many years. She was an avid tennis player in Richland and played Hand and Foot every Saturday night with "The Girls". June was also a member of "The Holy Terrors", a club which started in high school and continued to meet for years afterward. As the club members moved to different states they continued their relationships by phone. June managed to find the perfect jobs which provided outlets for two of her passions: fashion and children. She worked as a sales person at Glenn of Gull Lake for 15 years. June then went on to be a playground supervisor at Richland Elementary, during which time she could hardly walk through Harding's without hearing a child's voice say, "Hi Mrs. Flip!". Truth be told, June took the job at Richland Elementary to make sure her youngest granddaughter at the time finished her lunch at school each day. In December 2019, June moved to Friendship Village in Kalamazoo where she actively and affectionately stayed in touch with her family and friends over the phone. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 4, 2020 at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church, 12648 East D Avenue, Augusta, MI 49012. Interment will follow in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta and is for family only. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Ann Catholic Church (see address above). The Farley Estes Dowdle Funeral Home & Cremation Care, Richland Chapel is assisting June's family. Personal messages and/or favorite memories of June may be placed at www.farleyestesdowdle.com
