Passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family. Judy was born June 9, 1940 in Niagara Wisconsin, daughter of the late George and Mabel Richter. Judy lived in Iron Mountain, MI where she met and married Howard Ritter and then relocated her family to the Gobles area where she had lived since 1974. Judy was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She served as the Pine Grove Township Clerk for 25 years and was lovingly known by many as the "Cookie Lady". She was a long time member of the Elks Club in Paw Paw. She enjoyed her "retirement" job at Goodwill Industries in Paw Paw where she met many great people that loved her baked goods. Judy loved spending time in the kitchen, creating delicious meals for her family and friends. Her grandchildren and their friends would gather around her kitchen for after school cookies, pies and pastries. The simplest pleasures in life brought her joy (a game of cards in the evening with her husband and friends, glass of brandy in hand). Her home was constantly filled with flowers, fruits and vegetables from her gardens. She had an uncanny ability to find happiness in her daily activities and her pleasant personality was contagious to everyone she met. Surviving are her children; Terry (Kathye) LaCount; Kim LaCount-Beachy, Rachelle LaCount; step sons: Paul (Shirley) Ritter, Mike (Lynn) Ritter; grandchildren, Brian (Adriana) Lewis, Kyle (Caitlin) Lewis, Chelsea (Tim) Charles, A.J. (Tricia) Ritter, Karl Ritter, Bryan (Esther) Ritter; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Elaine Johnson, Nancy Hird and Arthur Richter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Ritter, a brother David Richter, a grandson Gregory Charles and daughter-in-law Kathye LaCount. The family will meet friends on Monday, March 7th from noon until the time of the memorial service at 1:00 PM at the Gobles Chapel, D. L. Miller Funeral Home, www.dlmillerfuneralhome.com. Interment will follow in Kendall Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church in Paw Paw.
