Joyce M. Wilson

Wilson, Joyce M. Portage Joyce Marilyn Wilson, nee Hoffman, died peacefully on Thursday, Feb 9, 2023. Born in Lincoln, NE on March 2, 1931 she later moved to Michigan. She graduated from Marshall High School and Western Michigan University with a teaching degree. Joyce married Newal "Scotty" Wilson on May 3, 1952 in Marshall and they moved to Kalamazoo and began their teaching careers. Joyce taught for over 40 years, first at South Westnedge Elementary and Peter Pan Elementary in Kalamazoo and later at Sunset Lake Elementary in Vicksburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters. Joyce is survived by her two children, Ann (Jim) Long, Andrew (Diane) Wilson and her two grandchildren Amanda & Ryan Wilson. Visitation will be held Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 11am until the Memorial service at 12 noon at Langeland Family Funeral Homes Burial & Cremation Services, 3926 S 9th St in Kalamazoo. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Portage Public Library, 300 Library Ln, Portage, MI 49002 or your local Humane Society in Joyce's memory.
