Joyce Gunderson

Joyce Gundreson, age 75, of Kalamazoo died on Friday, August 26, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice in Kalamazoo. She was born on March 22, 1941 in Clay City KY, the daughter of Herman and Hazel (Smith) Hensley and has been a resident of the Kalamazoo area for 50 years. For 20 years she worked for Van Buren County as a care taker for people with special needs. Joyce was devoted to her 5 children and to her church family, The Christian Assembly of God in Portage. She enjoyed gambling and especially enjoyed Friday night shrimp night at the Hartford Casino. Members of her family include her children: James (Pamela) Ballard, Tamula Clymer, Randy (Tammy) Ballard, Stephen Ballard, Debbie Feaster, 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by several brothers, sisters, extended family and a special companion Itty Bitty, Debbie’s Chihuahua that gave her comfort and joy during her illness. Joyce was preceded in death by her son Jeffery Scott Ballard, a grandson Stephen Ballard Jr. and a son-in-law Sam Clymer. Joyce’s cremated remains will be buried in the West Oshtemo Cemetery and services will be at a later date.
