Joseph Vance Sanchez Jr., age 32, of Las Vegas, NV, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2016. He was born in Kalamazoo, MI, on May 4th, 1984 to Joseph V. Sanchez Sr. and Victoria Boyd-Henry. Joseph, affectionately known as Lil Joe was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, he was always special in everyone's hearts. He loved Astronomy and would talk for hours about the stars and the galaxies, most of the time he would talk to his daughter and niece until they fell asleep on him. He loved his only child Skyla and would do anything in his power to protect her. Lil Joe loved life, his family and his friends dearly! He was the life of the party, and was always trying to make everyone laugh. He would always make sure he stayed in touch with his family and friends, whether it was by calling, texting, or Facebook, he made sure to let you know that he loved you. Joseph is survived by his daughter Skyla Sanchez, his father Joseph (Monica) Sanchez Sr., mother Victoria Boyd-Henry, stepfather Michael Henry, sister Alice' Sanchez, grandparents Akin & Marie Prude and Vincente Flores, brothers Damion Bates, Tywaan Boyd and Christopher Couvillion, nieces Amaya Al-Daean, Gabrielle Stevenson, Tiphanie and Daimecia Bates, nephews Dominic Stevenson, Mekhi Boyd and Dylan Bates, and a multitude of other family members and friends. Joseph was proceeded in death by his grandmother Asusena "Suzie" Sanchez-Flores, uncles Tomas and Gilbert Sanchez. Services will be held on Friday, November 18, 2016 at noon, with a family hour beginning at 11am. Services will be at Second Baptist Church, 609 N. Rose Street Kalamazoo, MI 49007 with Bishop Karl B. Wallace officiating. Flower donations can be sent to 2628 Asbury Ave Kalamazoo, MI 49048 by Thursday, November 17, 2016.
