John Williams was a deeply creative man committed to his art, and greatly valued his identity as a father. Raised in Sparta, MI, he became an avid hunter, arm wrestler, and friend to a lifelong circle of "Sparta Spartans." He loved "The Corner Bar" in Rockford and would go to great lengths to get a chili dog there. He enjoyed cooking, poker, darts, billiards, and life on "the lake." A free spirit, and avid storyteller, John was a nature enthusiast who felt it brought him closer to God. He was an award winning Goldsmith, who later used his artistic skill set to do construction. After spending a period of his life in Ft Myers Beach, FL, he regularly reminisced about life on "the beach." He'll be remembered most by his children for enjoying sunsets, fishing, and his passion for the holidays. John L. Williams, 60, died of too much fun on Monday August 12, 2019. He leaves his children Ryan, Trey, and, Aubrey, in addition to others he loved and was a father figure to, grandchildren Sophia, Elisa, Kayden and Cooper, and brother Don. He is preceded in death by his parents who he adored, Donna and Lee. Memorial contributions may be made to Avalon Housing, www.avalonhousing.org
