John W. Oesch Battle Creek John Walter Oesch, 79, of Battle Creek, went to sing tenor with the Saints of Heaven on October 25, 2008 at W Drive North Assisted Living-through End of Life care. John was born June 30, 1929 in LaGrange, Indiana, the son of John and Dorothy (Howard) Oesch. They preceded him in death. He was a member of the Citrus Capital Chorus in Polk County, FL. He served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1946-1950. He then joined the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in October 1958. A son, Michael, was born August 1950 to John and his former wife Barbara. John retired from the JL Hudson Company and lived in Florida prior to his coming back to Battle Creek. He was an avid fly fisherman. John leaves his son, Michael; former wife, Barbara Schuyler; a sister, Priscilla Williams; nephews, Kim and Gary Williams; nieces and nephews; and a dear friend since kindergarten, Kirk Pasche. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 31, 2008 at Ft. Custer National Cemetery with full military honors, with the Rev. Fr. Charles Fischer, of St. Phillip Catholic Church, officiating. In lieu of flowers, all gifts will be accepted by W Drive North Assisted Living to pay for final expenses. The family is being served by Shaw Funeral Home.
