Age 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 14, 2020, after a long battle with cardiovascular disease. John was a devoted Christian and beloved father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend, who loved his family above all. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan on March 16, 1936, the son of the late Arthur and Annette (Engelhart) Haan. John owned Haan's of Parchment for more than 40 years and sold pianos, organs and appliances, and installed kitchens and bathrooms. After he sold that business, he became a Financial Advisor for more than 20 years. John also played the church organ for 52 years. He was a long-time member of Parchment Christian Reformed Church until it closed and most recently attended LaGrave Christian Reformed Church. John loved to travel and visited all over the country and to various places around the world. When his children were young, he bought a motorhome and the family traveled to many places in it. One of the favorite destinations for the whole family, was and still is, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. John was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne (Winkel) Haan; daughter, Vicki Lynne Haan; son, Gregory John Haan and grandson, David Arthur John Haan. He is survived by his daughters, Pam Nyhof and Karen Haan-Gower; daughter in-law, Shari Boone; 11 grandchildren, Jennifer, Tom, Heather, Travis, Justin, Jared, Amber, Tori, Jonny, Brianna, and Allyssa and 11 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Chris Haan; sister, Joan VanSpronsen and many nieces and nephews. His family was his focus throughout all his life, and he will be dearly missed. John's family is praising God for his life and his love! No services are scheduled at this time.
