John H. Floyd, age 50, unexpectantly passed away Monday, July 27, 2015 at his residence. John was born in Racine, May 14, 1965, son of the late Gordon Howard Floyd and Eileen Jean (Nee: Damman) Floyd. John was employed by R.A.D. Group for the last several years. He belonged to the The Grove Club. John was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and was a past member of Salmon Unlimited. John was a team member of the first place 1997 Bob Ueckers Great Lakes Invitational Fishing Contest.

He will be dearly missed by his stepmother, Judith Floyd; his brothers and sisters, Scott (Jennifer) Floyd, Deborah (Christopher) Truckey, Dale Floyd, Serina (Jason) Anderson, Jason Floyd, Daniel Floyd; niece and nephews, Kayla Truckey, Stephen Truckey, Chase Anderson, Nicholas Anderson; other relatives and dear friends.

John had more than his share of personal challenges to overcome. With the support of his family, friends, medical professionals, sponsor, and fellow Grove members he was battling those issues and taking them head on for the first time in his life. This took amazing courage, strength and perseverance. John just celebrated his 1 year sobriety on July 16th, a fact that he and all of us were very proud of. His sudden and unexpected passing, just when he reached this major mile stone and was building a new life for himself is bitter sweet.

While John liked to portray a rough exterior there was no one with a bigger heart than his. He was a man of many talents and he excelled at everything he put his mind to. He loved to bowl, shoot pool, hunt and above all fish. Though his school records did not reflect it, John had an amazing intellect and boundless curiosity for science, nature, and the world. He was always researching the latest technologies and scientific endeavors, and loved discussing them with everyone.

He touched many lives and will always be remembered. John you were our brother, uncle, cousin and friend, and will be missed dearly. We also know you are in a better place and know that you have finally found the peace that you have always longed for. With all of our hearts we will always love you….

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2015, 10:30 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Relatives and friends may meet with the family Friday at the funeral home from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. and Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 A.M. until time of service at 10:30 A.M. Interment will be held at Roseland Cemetery, Sanborn, Iowa. Memorials in lieu of flowers have been suggested.

Casual dress is acceptable and in honor of John anyone who desires to where camouflage would be a great tribute.
