John Eshuis

John E. Eshuis, age 66, of Portage, MI passed away Monday, October 31, 2016 at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence after a battle with mesothelioma. He was born September 19, 1950 in Kalamazoo to the late John and Anna (Kuilema) Eshuis. He was united in marriage to Joan Dyksterhouse on August 25, 1972. John was a graduate of Kalamazoo Christian High School and Nazareth College. He was employed by Pfizer and a member of First Reformed Church of Portage. John is survived by his wife, Joan Eshuis; children, Jason Eshuis, Joseph (Elizabeth) Eshuis and Jill (Brian) Porritt; 4 grandchildren, Noel, Romy and Archer Porritt and Jensen Eshuis; brothers, Ronald (Ruth) Eshuis, David (Barbara) Eshuis and Phillip (Trudy) Eshuis; sister, Judy (David) Long; brothers-in-law, Dale (Bette) Dyksterhouse and Brad (Nancy) Dyksterhouse; and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will take place 11am Thursday, November 3rd at First Reformed Church of Portage, 7905 S. Westnedge Ave. The family will greet friends on Wednesday, November 2nd , from 4-7pm at Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. A private burial will take place in Schoolcraft Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to First Reformed Church of Portage or Rose Arbor Hospice Residence.
