John Ross Druba, 74, passed away October 31, 2020. John was born April 13, 1946 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Chester Earl Druba and Pauline Munson Ruimveld. He was a graduate of Portage Central High School and served in The United States Army from 1966 to 1968. John worked as an Ironworker for Local 340 and SCI/Steelcon for 30+ years prior to retiring. On June 11, 2013, he was united in marriage to Cindy (Taylor) Heemstra. Besides his wife, John is survived by one son, Brett (Doris) Druba one granddaughter, Skye Druba, one sister, Terrie Tooley, two stepsons, Jeff (Kelly) Neidlinger and Tyler Heemstra, one stepdaughter, Whitney Taylor, one step-granddaughter, Blair Neidlinger, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents. Growing up in the country, life with John was an adventure. He was strong willed yet kind-hearted. He had a great sense of humor and was always the life of the party. You could always count on him to be the first to help family and friends with a project and was a jack of all trades. He was never late, always a half hour early. He loved kids, probably because he was one himself. He loved his dog, Dixie, and took her everywhere with him. His hobbies varied and often changed with the seasons. He was a gun enthusiast, enjoyed target shooting, sport hunting, snowmobiling and fast cars. He enjoyed dancing, playing horseshoes and spending summers at Silver Lake with friends. Most of all, he enjoyed attending Skye's horse shows, bragging about her to whomever was nearby. He will be dearly missed by all. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services will be held. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a celebration of his life will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
