John Berninger, 87, was born June 13,1936, in Chicago IL, to John and Margaret (Bonifert) Berninger. He graduated from Lane Tech High School, and received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Mechanical Engineering at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He was a lifelong member of Triangle Fraternity. In his 30s, John served as a precinct captain in Maine township IL for 4 years.

John worked for Parker Hannifin for 42 years on many hydraulic, aerospace and pneumatic projects and managed pneumatic divisions. He received 5 patents while at Parker. After retirement, John continued to work on National Fluid Power Association (NFPA) and International Organization for Standards (ISO) standards development committees through 2017.

John had great love for family, and great pride in his Hungarian heritage. He loved his home in Portage Michigan. At St. Catherine of Sienna Church he served on building, finance and stewardship committees, and greeted parishioners before Sunday services. He served as a delegate to the National Advisory Committee to the US Catholic Bishops and on the Michigan Catholic Conference board of directors. After moving to Texas in 2017, John taught bridge lessons at the Sachse Senior Center, joined the Knights of Columbus at Sacred Heart Church, and continued to stay involved with colleagues, friends and family. He will be missed and remain in our memories forever.

John is survived by his son Kenneth (Cindy) Berninger of Dublin Ohio; daughter Sandra King (Raymund) of Rowlett Texas; children of Kenneth: Christina Berninger, Cara (Cole) Cooper, Carla (Bryan) Wilson, Josh Berninger; of Sandra: Alexander, and Jonah King; of daughter-in-law Susanne Berninger: Steven (Rachelle) Berninger; and great-grandchildren: Carter, Riley, Emma, Lilly, Audrey and James. John was preceded in death by his wife Patricia (2018), and his son David(2011).

A Funeral Mass will be said June 15, at 10am, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church Rowlett Texas. Interment will follow at Moore Memorial Gardern in Arlington TX, at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, John would ask that you give support with time, talent or monetary donation to a church or educational institution of your choice.
