Joan Stonerock

Joan Stonerock, age 90 of Kalamazoo, went to be with her Lord on April 7, 2022. Joan was born in Kalamazoo on May 17, 1931, the daughter of the late Matthew and Grace (Waldo) Smallegange. On January 30, 1953, Joan married Robert Stonerock, Jr., and they were married for 54 years until his death. Joan loved music and especially playing the piano in church and at nursing homes. She was a member of the Kalamazoo Covenant Church. She worked for many years at the Upjohn Company and retired with Bob in 1992. They enjoyed many years vacationing in Arizona. Bob preceded her in death in 2007. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brothers-in-law Florence and Fred Dirkse and Robert Roeland. She is survived by her children: Jeffrey (Lori) Stonerock and Gregory (Judy) Stonerock; three grandsons: Joshua, John and Joey; great-grandson Ezekiel Stonerock; her sister, Henrietta Roeland; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Monday, April 18, 2022, in the Kalamazoo Covenant Church, 5708 E. Main St. with Pastor Dave Beetham officiating, with an hour to greet the family beginning at 10:00 AM. A graveside service will be at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries or Kalamazoo Covenant Church.
