Went to be with the Lord, Wednesday morning, August 24, 2016. Jo was born December 5, 1937, in Kalamazoo the daughter of Garret and Grace DeVries Orbeck. She was a gifted and creative woman with many interests: family gatherings, travel, golf at Gull Lake Country Club, winters in Florida, reading, knitting, sewing, quilting, and gardening. As an active member of Second Reformed Church, she is currently an elder, in the chancel and bell choirs, a Hearts to Hands Quilter, and a Kids' Hope Sponsor, serving where ever needed. Generous with her time and talents, she helped design houses, plan weddings, sew bridal dresses, bake wedding cakes, set tiles, build decks, and fix everything that needed fixing. She worked at Lifetouch Photography for twenty-six years, first as a school photographer and then as regional manager. For ten years she went to Haiti on mission trips to help build schools in rural villages. On June 28, 1957, Jo was united in marriage to her loving husband of 59 years, John Klok, who survives. Also surviving are her children, Alan and Donna Klok, Kathleen and Edward Dolinar, and David P. Klok; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Charlotte Knipp; step-grandchildren, Michael Ferguson, Carmen Laudenschlager, Matthew and Andrew Dolinar; 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet and Peter Johnson, Mary Schrader, Susan and Alec Cumming, and brother Garret A. Orbeck; brother-in-law Lou and Wilma Klok, several nieces and nephews. Friends may meet the family from 6-8 PM on Thursday, Sept. 1, at the Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 South 9th Street. Visitation will also be at 10 AM prior to the memorial service at 11:00 AM, Friday, Sept. 2, at Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Drive. A private family graveside service will be held in Ft. Custer National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the memorial fund at Second Reformed Church.
