Simkins, Jerry Lee 7/14/1948 - 3/31/2022 Vicksburg Michigan Jerry Lee Simkins, 73, of Vicksburg, Mi, passed away, March 31, 2022, in Tampa, Florida. Jerry was born July 14,1948 in Remus, Michigan to Marcus and Alice (Stadtfeld) Simkins. Jerry had eight siblings, three brothers and five sisters. While growing up on the family farm, Jerry learned the value of hard work and more so, the importance of family. Jerry remained close to his family, including his many nieces, nephews and their children as well. After graduating from Remus high school, Jerry served his country in the Army in both Germany and Vietnam. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and just being outdoors. Whether in Michigan during the spring and summer or Florida during the winter months Jerry could be found on the golf course most days. Jerry was an energetic, fun loving man, very social, and had many friends. He was quick with a joke or comment and could often make people laugh and smile. In 1991 he married Marlene (Early) Hyames (deceased) and in June 2018 he married Ivy Sue (Dowty) Parker, and enjoy their life together until his death. Jerry is survived by his wife Sue, her children Steve (Honey) Parker, James (Tricia) Parker, and grandchildren Spencer, Jaice, Jessi, and Paxton Parker. Marlene's children, Donald (Kim) Hyames, David (Wendy) Hyames, and grandchildren Andrea ,Melanie, Jack, Eric and Wesley Hyames. Son, Marcus Simkins (Shannon), his children, Cullen, Kiera, and Cavan. Brother and sisters, Jean (Jerry-deceased) Blubaugh, Tom (Glenda) Simkins, Carol (Larry) Dutcher, Reva (Ziggy) Kopacz, Rose (Chris) Everhardus, Cheryl (Joe-deceased) Shelby. Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Marcus and Alice Simkins, wife Marlene Simkins, brothers Fred (Joyce) Simkins, Mike (Arlene) Simkins, brother-in-laws Jerry Blubaugh and Joe Shelby and nephews Corey and Kevin Simkins. Interment will be held on Monday, July 11, 2022 at 11:30 a.m. at Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mi. Immediately following the service, family and friends are invited to gather for lunch at Scott's Community Center, 8450 36th Street, Scotts, Mi. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jerry's memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or a charity of your choice.
