Jerry Raynes

Lowell Gerard (Jerry) Raynes, age 80, of Kalamazoo, MI went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 22, 2016 after his battle with cancer; he passed away peacefully with family at his side. Jerry was born in Grand Rapids, MI. on March 10, 1936 to Samual Getts Raynes and Mary (Hall) Raynes. Jerry was married to the late Ann Marie (Oliphant) Raynes and together they had 8 children: Ric Raynes, Rebecca Raynes, Samantha (John) Foster, Rhonda (Matthew) Moore, Tony (Tiffany) Raynes, Suzanne (Jeff) Conley, Maria (Rob) Raynes-Pelino, and Sonny Raynes. Jerry retired from the UpJohn Company in Portage, MI. He lived in Largo, Fl for 17 years prior to returning to Kalamazoo at the end of his life. In his younger years, Jerry volunteered in the Kalamazoo community as vice-president, president, and coach/manager at the Westwood Little League. He served on the township board, volunteered as an EMT at UpJohn, and was a member of St. Joseph Church. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers: Warren (Lenore), Bill (Gloria), and Samual, his sister: Sue (Bob) Martin, and his granddaughter, Nicole Cipcic. Jerry is survived by his children, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends, his sister-in-law June Raynes, and his dog Mr. Magoo. Private cremation arrangements through J. Kevin Tidd Funeral Home in Albion, MI.
