Jerome "Jerry" Kalhorn passed away Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the age of 90. Jerry was born April 23, 1927 in South Haven, MI to the late Arthur and Lottie (Bennett) Kalhorn. Jerry was united in marriage to Georgia Benwire on October 4, 1952 for a loving 65 years together. He graduated from South Haven High School. Jerry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War, until honorably discharged. After graduating from Parsons Business School, Jerry was employed with DeGroot Typewriter Exchange as an accountant. He was later employed with Borgess Medical Center. Jerry retired from Borgess and then stayed with them as a volunteer. Among his interests were bowling, golf and traveling. He was a longtime member of Westwood United Methodist Church where he served as treasurer for 7 years and as one of the counters for several years. Jerry is survived by his wife, Georgia Kalhorn; children, David (Holly) Kalhorn, Dale Kalhorn, Renee (Bill) Fugate and Michael (Jeannie) Kalhorn; 7 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother, Frederick Kalhorn; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Gloria (Leo) Bachman; and daughter-in-law, Mary Kalhorn. The family will greet friends on Friday, January 19th from 10-11am at Westwood United Methodist Church, 538 Nichols Rd, Kalamazoo, MI 49006, where a memorial service will begin at 11:00am. A private burial will take place at a later date at Mt. Ever-Rest Memorial Park South. Arrangements by Langeland Family Funeral Homes, Westside Chapel, 3926 S. 9th Street. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Great Lakes Hospice Care or to Westwood United Methodist Church.
