Jean Vermillion, age 62, of Portage, Michigan Jean Vermillion was born on March 20th, 1959, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Richard Vermillion and the late June Gilmore Vermillion. She graduated from Portage Northern High School in 1977. At the time of her death, on Friday, August 19th, 2016, Jean was surrounded by her closest high school friends; Celia Rodee, Mike Brotebeck, Nancy McBride Hively and Lisa McBride Forsythe. Jean was larger-than-life and knew how to work and take command of a party. She had an uncanny way of bringing people and friends together. Jean had an incredibly vivacious personality and a bold style about herself. Jean loved the Young and the Restless, decorating, playing board games, Euchre, and animals, especially her Sammy, a teacup Yorkie. She enjoyed downtown Kalamazoo, the Art Hop, and going to the movies. But Jean's greatest love was being at the lake, especially Lake Michigan. As a REMAX Advantage Realtor for the last 19 years, Jean was known as "Jean Jean the Real Estate Queen." She also earned the rank of Senior Manager with SendOutCards. The people she encountered through her career contacts weren't just clients, they were her friends. Oh how she enjoyed mingling and interacting with everyone in these settings. Jean leaves a wealth of friends and family whom she loved dearly. She valued her friendships and the memories made along the way. Jean will be sorely missed and is still with us in spirit shining down upon us with her mother beside her. She is survived by her father, Richard (Ursula) Vermillion, Dublin, Ohio, her sisters, Jan (Frank) Thomason, Center Point, Texas, Joan (Jim) Sanborn, Angola, Indiana, her brothers, Russ (Leslie) Vermillion, Milford, Ohio and Randy (Eileen) Vermillion, Columbus, Ohio. She leaves behind, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Jean's Life will be held on September 17th, from 4pm to 6pm, 2016, at The Gilmore Farm's Club House located at 8228, Lausen Ln, Richland, Michigan. Memorials may be made to the Kalamazoo Humane Society in memory of Jean.
