Jean Rice

Jean Ann Rice, age 65 of Bellevue, Michigan died peacefully on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, at Rose Arbor Hospice Residence in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Jean bravely battled cancer for many years and was able to enjoy an additional 15 years. Jean was born March 11, 1956 in Battle Creek, Michigan to Albert Rolland and Victoria Louise (Berry) Colvin. She was a 1974 graduate of Lakeview High School, earned an Associate Degree from Kellogg Community College and her Bachelor's Degree from Sienna Heigh4ts University. Jean was employed for many years at Auto Value. She retired from Kellogg Community College, where she was employed in 1987. Jean Ann Colvin was united in marriage to Phillip Jay Rice on June 30, 1991 at Day Bible Church. Surviving are her husband, Phillip J. Rice; sister, Jan (Steve) Coffman of Battle Creek; brother, Ron (Lynda) Colvin of Kalamazoo; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and their families. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jon Robert Colvin. Jean loved spending time at her home in Bellevue. She enjoyed photography, gardening and the wildlife around her home. She also enjoyed traveling, her cat Fred Butters, anything creative and dinner with "The Girls". Jean will be remembered as a loving wife, sister and friend to all she knew. A memorial service to celebrate Jean's life will be announced later. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Michigan Cancer Center, 200 N. Park Street, Kalamazoo, MI 49007.
